Local Area

Malcolm Island offers many outdoor hiking, jogging, kayaking and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Close to town, the three kilometre Mateoja Trail offers an easy day hike. For those of you looking for a more rigourous day hike, Beautiful Bay Trail offers many scenic views of the mainland mountains and Queen Charlotte Strait. Birding opportunities are only minutes away, either on the shores of Rough Bay or along the shore off Kaleva Road. Bere Point Regional Park also offers many birding and marine mammal viewing opportunities throughout the spring, summer and fall months. Storm watching becomes the order of the day during the winter months, and guests are encouraged to participate in WinterFest in November.
