Local Area
Malcolm Island offers many outdoor hiking, jogging, kayaking and wildlife viewing opportunities.
Close to town, the three kilometre Mateoja Trail offers an easy day hike. For those of you looking for a more rigourous day hike, Beautiful Bay Trail offers many scenic views of the mainland mountains and Queen Charlotte Strait. Birding opportunities are only minutes away, either on the shores of Rough Bay or along the shore off Kaleva Road. Bere Point Regional Park also offers many birding and marine mammal viewing opportunities throughout the spring, summer and fall months. Storm watching becomes the order of the day during the winter months, and guests are encouraged to participate in WinterFest in November.

Sisu Malcolm Island's Newsletter
Sointula’s early newspaper, Aika kept residents and visitors informed of events and personalities in the settlement. Malcolm Islanders were proud of this publication, and now have developed another newsletter in Sisu. Produced quarterly, this newsletter includes articles from many local correspondents and features information on up and coming events.
